Matan’s 270 Corporate Center Honored for Outstanding Achievement in Recycling
Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection Division of Solid Waste Services Waste Reduction and Recycling Section hosted their 16th Annual Recycling Achievement Awards on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. In attendance were Isiah Leggett, Montgomery County Executive, Lisa Feldt, Director of the Department of Environmental Protection, and the event’s guest speaker, Loo Katz of 97.1 WASH-FM.
Matan Companies’ 270 Corporate Center project located on Century Boulevard in Germantown, along with several other businesses, organizations, employees, multi-family properties, property representatives, residents, and individuals were honored for their contributions to the success of Montgomery County’s recycling programs. 270 Corporate Center was awarded the “Outstanding Achievement in Recycling Award” in the Business category.
“It is no secret that recycling is important,” said Priscilla Ford, Portfolio Manager for Matan Companies, “and we have found that a little encouragement and some “how to” information is often all it takes to get a business started on a recycling program. We provide our new tenants with recycling information as part of their move-in package and do all we can to continually promote sustainable practices, such as providing reusable bags and information on eco-friendly products.”
Matan has owned the 4-building, 450,000 square foot corporate center since 2000 and recently invested over $5 million dollars to renovate the common areas and deliver amenities that will help 270 Corporate Center distinguish itself in the I-270 market. In addition to the recently renovated courtyard, which offers a free public Wi-Fi network and outdoor seating, Matan renovated the common areas, delivered a state-of-the-art conference center, a 3,000 square foot fitness center with a yoga studio, and coming this summer, a high end café sourcing local ingredients.
